Toyota Highlander Maintenance Schedule for Normal Driving Conditions
Adhering to the Toyota Highlander recommended service schedule below will help extend the life of your vehicle. That’s why we make sure to do the following items for all of our Smyrna customers.
All of the items for 5,000 miles plus replace engine oil and oil filter
25,000 miles or 30 months
All of the items for 5,000 miles plus replace engine oil and oil filter if 0W-20 oil WAS NOT used at the last oil change
30,000 miles or 36 months
All of the items for 5,000 miles plus:
Re-torque propeller shaft bolt (4WD)
Replace cabin air filter
Replace engine air filter
Replace engine oil and oil filter 2
Replace rear differential oil (4WD)
Replace transfer case oil (4WD)
Also, inspect the items below:
Automatic transmission fluid cooler hoses and connections
Automatic transmission for signs of leakage
Ball joints and dust covers

Toyota Highlander Maintenance Schedule for Special Driving Conditions
Most of our Atlanta customers will do just fine keeping up with the items listed above. But if you drive a lot on dirt roads or do a lot of towing, the items below will need to be added to your maintenance schedule. See your Warranty and Maintenance Guide for more detail.
Driving on dirt roads or dusty roads:
Inspect ball joints and dust covers
Inspect drive shaft boots
Inspect engine air filter
Inspect steering linkage and boots
Re-torque propeller shaft bolt (4WD)
Replace engine oil and oil filter
Tighten nuts and bolts on chassis and body
Driving while towing, using a car-top carrier, or heavy vehicle loading:
Re-torque propeller shaft bolt (4WD)
Replace engine oil and oil filter
Tighten nuts and bolts on chassis and body
Repeated trips of less than five miles in
temperatures below 32°F / 0°C:
Replace engine oil and oil filter
Extensive idling and/or low speed driving for a long distance such as police, taxi, or door-to-door delivery use:
Replace engine oil and oil filter
