Large SUVs in Toyota’s Lineup That Are Ideal for Drivers Who Crave Adventure
When you’re serious about getting out there and exploring the Southeast, you need an SUV that’s serious about it, too. The most trusted Toyota dealer near Powder Springs, Marietta Toyota, has a fleet of SUVs to power your next adventure. A compact SUV is usually fine for getting to work, and some light- to medium-duty exploits are available for you and a couple of friends. But a truly unforgettable outing—one that you can bring the whole family or friend group along for—demands a big SUV that can handle tough terrain and heavy loads. With that in mind, we’re looking at the five biggest SUVs in the Toyota lineup and how they will get you to mountain peaks, campgrounds, concerts, and wherever else life takes you.
Toyota 4Runner
First on our list is the Toyota 4Runner, which has been powering Southeast daredevils since 1995. Measuring 190.2 inches long, 71.5 inches tall, and 75.8 inches wide, it holds up to seven people and is designed with off-roading in mind. With up to 89.7 cu.ft. of cargo space plus roof rack mounts, there’s a lot of room for luggage, bikes, and other gear.
Furthermore, the 4Runner is being redesigned to make it an even more impressive SUV for Powder Springs drivers. It offers a standard 4.0L V6 engine (270 hp) and 278 lb-ft of torque) or a hybrid version that delivers 326 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque. This can tow 5,000 lbs, allowing you to easily haul a small fishing boat to Lake Acworth or bring a small camper for a weekend in the wilderness.
This powerplant, combined with a limited-slip rear differential plus Active Traction Control and an electronic transfer case on the four-wheel drive (4WD) models, gives you excellent grip on muddy trails. The higher trims upgrade the differential to an electronically-controlled model, and with the 4Runner Trailhunter, you and your passengers can enjoy all-terrain tires, skid plate protection, added ground clearance, and other features to get a big-time feel from a midsize SUV.
Toyota Land Cruiser
Next up is the Toyota Land Cruiser, the oldest active vehicle under the Toyota banner. With dimensions of 193.8 inches long, 76.1 inches tall, and 77.9 inches wide, it’s the fourth-largest Toyota SUV. Seating five with 37.5 cubic feet behind the rear seats, it positions more as a competitor to the Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator for Powder Springs off-road enthusiasts.
The history of the Land Cruiser dates to 1951, and it returned to North American soil in 2024 after a two-year hiatus. The remodeled new generation now has a hybrid powerplant that uses the same 2.4L turbocharged engine as the 4Runner and Tacoma—which is fitting since the Land Cruiser is long known for a “drives like a truck” feel. The power, torque, and fuel economy are a huge jump over the previous generation, and the new Land Cruiser is also 800 lbs lighter. This equates to a 6,000-lb towing capacity that can pull a 30-foot camper or a pair of UTVs with ease. Other highlights for off-roading include full-time 4WD, a locking rear differential, up to 8.7 inches of ground clearance, a transfer case, and steep approach and breakover angles. It’s a big vehicle made to tackle harsh trails or make your own.

Toyota Highlander
Here’s a vehicle for people interested in more all-around adventuring. If you want to take a road trip to a festival, roll down the Silver Comet Trail, or get the kiddos to football practice, the Toyota Highlander is ready for action. The vehicle comes in at 194.9 inches long, 68.1 inches high, and 76 inches wide and has standard seating for eight—that’s the parents, the kids, and a few of their classmates.
Though officially a midsize crossover SUV, the Highlander manages some full-size cred. It comes with either the same 2.4L internal combustion engine (ICE) as the 4Runner or a 2.5L hybrid powertrain that outputs slightly less horsepower but significantly better fuel efficiency. The Highlander Hybrid gets an EPA-estimated 36 combined MPG and 616 miles per tank—enough for a trip from Powder Springs to Tallahassee and back. Choose the all-wheel drive for excellent traction with a towing capacity up to 5,000 pounds.
Toyota has emphasized interior comfort as well, with lots of charging ports, added storage compartments, available ventilated front seats, and an available 12.3-inch infotainment screen on higher trims. When you need some alone time, fold the second and third-row seats down for 84.3 cubic feet of cargo space to hold all your toys.
Toyota Grand Highlander
Are you interested in the Highlander but want a supersized version? That’s where the Toyota Grand Highlander comes in, making everything a little bigger for those needing the extra space. The Grand Highlander measures 6.5 inches longer, four inches taller, and 2.3 inches wider than the Highlander. Lengthwise, most of this space goes into more third-row legroom, jumping from 28 to 33.5 inches to stretch out a bit. The Grand Highlander also has more headroom across the board for taller drivers and passengers. Maximum cargo space rockets to 97.5 cubic feet, and you still get 20.6 cubic feet even with all three seating rows in action.
In addition to the pair of Highlander powertrains, the Grand Highlander is also available with a Hybrid MAX setup that produces 362 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. So when you want to put the pedal down and feel some thunder on Route 278 even with a full load, the Grand Highlander has the power. You also get more advanced technology options and standard safety features. Think of it as Toyota taking a family crossover and making it a vehicle that eight adults can enjoy.

Toyota Sequoia
When only the biggest, toughest SUV will do, the Toyota Sequoia answers the call. Manufactured since 2001, this full-size SUV is a true giant, coming in at 208.1 inches long, 74.5 inches tall, and 79.8 inches wide. That translates to spacious eight-person seating—even if you get the optional panoramic moonroof—with a sliding third-row seat and up to 86.9 cu.ft. of cargo space.
This is, beyond a shadow of a doubt, the most powerful Toyota SUV for Powder Springs swashbucklers. It’s fitted with a 3.5L twin-turbo V6 hybrid powerplant that makes you fly with 437 hp and 583 lb-ft of torque. The Sequoia has a max towing capacity of 9,520 lbs for giant campers, full-size powerboats, project cars, and race cars. If you just want to experience a rush on I-20, the Sequoia can go from 0-60 MPH in 5.6 seconds.
Third-generation Sequoia SUVs are also fully equipped for all-terrain adventure—especially if you get the TRD Off-Road Package. It adds a selectable locking differential to the 4WD powertrain, plus Downhill Assist Control and Crawl Control, Bilstein shocks, Multi-Terrain Monitor, and more. The capstone of its giant presence is the available 14-inch infotainment display.
